An improved method of depth measurement based on line laser

Faced with the problem of high cost and low accuracy of 3D modeling in industry, this paper build a low-cost 3D data measurement system with a self-made line laser scanner and improves the algorithm of extracting center of light bar. First, the self-made line laser scanner is used to collect the image information of the laser line on the surface of the measured object. Secondly, the center position of the line laser image is calculated by the improved gray centroid algorithm, and the depth information of the target is obtained based on the triangulation principle. Finally, the conversion from the depth information to the three-dimensional coordinate in space is completed through establishing the Cartesian coordinate system, and the three-dimensional coordinates are visualized as the point cloud model. According to the experimental data, the measurement error of the 3D data measurement system designed in this paper is 5mm in the short distance (less than 1m). And the improved gray centroid algorithm proposed is more accurate, faster and better robust, which will have a broader application prospect.
