RE2SEP: A Two-Phases Pattern-based Paradigm for Software Service Engineering

A key issue in big service era is how to optimallyconfigure and operate existing service resources to serve variousrequirements of customers, i.e., how to reuse available servicecomponents to develop new service systems to fulfill massiveindividualized requirements effectively and efficiently. In termsof this challenge, in this paper we present a new paradigmfor software service engineering called RE2SEP (Requirement-Engineering Two-Phase Service Engineering Paradigm) which iscomposed of three components: a service-oriented requirementengineering approach, a domain-oriented service engineering approach, and a software service development approach. RE2SEPenables the rapid design and implementation of service solutionsto match the requirements of massive individualized customerswith the help of patterns, and potentially revolutionizes thetraditional software engineering paradigms. A case study on anelderly care service system is given to demonstrate the feasibilityof RE2SEP.
