Design Criteria for Deflection Capacity of conventionally Reinforced Concrete Slabs. Phase I. State-of-the-Art Report.

Abstract : In this Phase I report, data obtained from a literature search of static and dynamic tests on uniformly loaded reinforced concrete one-way and two-way slabs are tabulated. Analytical methods for predicting incipient collapse deflection are summarized and compared to the test results. A method for predicting incipient collapse deflection, when tensile membrane resistance can be developed, is recommended for further study in Phase II of a three phase study. The recommended relationship gives incipient collapse deflection as a function of the short span of the slab and the rupture strain of the reinforcing steel. (Author)
