Test bench to optimize the Powertrain in Battery-Electric and Fuel-Cell Vehicles

In the EU project SWARM a fleet of fuel cell vehicles will be developed. In this context, at Jade University a test bench was designed and practically implemented to replica a measured cyclic current of any electrical vehicles powertrain. The paper describes the practical realization and functioning of the test bench with the numerous software and hardware features. It is presented, how the measurements are received and stored in time intervals, so that the results can be evaluated at any time in Device under Test, and what happens if limits are exceeded. Results of the test bench with long-term testing of single battery cells are presented. The paper ends with the extension of the test bench to reproduce the powertrains of battery-electric and fuel-cell vehicles.
