Estimating center of pressure from limited number of pressure sensors for gait tasks

The lateral shift in the COP trajectory using foot orthoses with a forefoot correction indicates that the loading of midfoot and forefoot may shift from the medial to the lateral side, and thus be beneficial for a pronated foot. As no difference was found between foot orthoses with different arch supports, this study also suggests that the arch support have a minimal effect on the COP trajectory during running. These results may have implications for the design of foot orthoses and footwear for a pronated foot.
