Individual User Differences in Data Model Comprehension

A variety of graphic styles are used for presentation of both dynamic and structural models in the design, implementation, use, and maintenance of information systems. To date, there has been little focus on the legibility of these models. Our study of the effect of graphic style on data model legibility shows significant variation in model comprehension between experiment participants and between the graphic styles used to present the models.
