2 – Fibrous Media

: The objective of this chapter, which could also be titled “From Fiber to Filter”, is to give a brief description of the techniques used to produce fibrous filters in the field of filtration. This is in order to associate some of their properties with their design. Rather than giving an exhaustive description of fibrous media, the authors wish to present a general overview that will allow the reader to better understand the performance of these filters from an energy-efficiency point of view. For more information on the implementation of non-woven media, we invite the reader to consult the works of Purchas and Sutherland, Wakeman and Tarleton, Neckar and Das and Russell.
