Teaching and learning thinking skills

This volume aims to provide an up-to-date review of the psychological and educational literature on thinking, problem-solving and teaching thinking. Problem-solving in mathematics, reading comprehension, text production and in people's everyday lives is addressed. The book covers most of the traditional topics in the field, as well as several newer approaches to development and education, such as the Piagetian and neo-Piagetian, information processing, learning, contextual and psychometric approaches. Each chapter covers one or two theoretical approaches to thinking, problem-solving and/or teaching in programmes, and most of the chapters include theoretical considerations, research and programme proposals.
