The method for managing a drm rights object in smart card

A method for managing a DRM(Digital Rights Management) RO(Right Object) with a smart card is provided to securely process and offer the RO for using contents stored in a terminal to the terminal after the smart card stores the RO received from an RI(Right Issuer) through the terminal based on a certificate, which is directly received from a certification serve. A user receives and stores contents to a storage medium of a terminal in a file type through a download or stream type after the user pays for the contents by connecting to a contents providing system through the terminal. Purchase information of the user is stored in a billing server through the contents providing system and is used for issuing an RO. The terminal requests the RO by transmitting contents ID information to a smart card when the user tries to play the contents stored and received to the terminal. The smart card verifies a stored certificate and RO, and transmits the corresponding RO to the terminal. The smart card requests an RI to issue the RO by transmitting the contents ID and certificate information to the RI when the RO is not found in the smart card.
