Poles Placement Position Control of Induction Motor Drives

This document presents the design of an efficient poles placement (RST) position regulator for induction motor drives. The position controller has been designed in d-q synchronous reference frame with indirect vector control or Field Oriented Control (FOC). The presented regulator has been validated experimentally employing an industrial induction motor of 7.5 kW. To compensate the undesirable effect of the load torque on the position tracking, a Feed-Forward (FF) term has been added to the poles placement control term. Several experimental tests have been carried out, getting very good results in favorable conditions and in adverse conditions like unknown load disturbance, uncertainties in parameter and measurement noises in the loop signals. The stability of the controlled system is demonstrated by chosen (placed) discrete poles for the regulated system.
