Smart parking assist system of vehicle and control method thereof

The present invention provides a parking assist system and a control method thereof, preventing clash of a side mirror of the vehicle to a side mirror of another vehicle or other obstacles by folding the side mirrors of the vehicle at a preset appropriate point when a driver wishes to automatically park the vehicle by operating a parking assist system. The parking assist system according to one aspect of the present invention comprises a parking space recognition unit recognizing a parking space for parking a vehicle by detecting objects near the vehicle; a path setting unit setting a driving path for parking the vehicle in the parking space recognized by the parking space recognition unit; a path control unit controlling the steering wheel of the vehicle in order to move the vehicle according to the driving path set by the path setting unit; and a side mirror control unit folding the side mirrors of the vehicle at a predetermined point after operation of the parking assist system.
