Selling the Smart Grid-Part 2: How Consumers Will Interact with the Smart Grid

In part 1 of this article (IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine, April 2012), the consumer was cast to a central role in the development of smart grid. The focus was how a thoroughly modernized grid would impact consumers by making the electricity system more reliable, efficient, and accessible to individuals. It was also argued that for the smart grid to succeed, consumers would have to be educated so that they could understand the benefits of a modern electricity system and participate in a more meaningful way.
