Simulation and Imaging of the Cardiac System

An overview of the major parameters which hopefully describe the cardiac system is presented and some of the basic reconstruction elements required to develop a 3-D computer simulation model are discussed. The interactions between cardiac mechanics, hemodynamics and transport phenomena are shown to yield the pressure gradients within the 3-D left ventricle (LV) cavity and the temporal temperature distribution within the myocardium, thus demonstrating the potential power of the envisioned 3-D simulation model.
