Softerror tolerant design becomes morecrucial duetoexponential increase inthevulnerability ofcomputer systems to soft errors. Accurate estimation ofsoft error rate(SER), the probability ofsystemfailure duetosoft errors, isakeyfactorindesign ofcost-effective soft error resilient systems. We present averyfast andaccurate approach basedonenhanced static timinganalysis andsignal probabilities toestimate theprobability oflatching anincorrect value inthesystem bistables (timing derating). Experimental results andcomparison withfault injections usingtiming accurate MonteCarlosimulations showthattheaccuracy ofourapproach iswithin 1%whileorders ofmagnitude faster.
