The international vocabulary of basic and general terms in metrology

Abstract A new bilingual (French and English) international vocabulary of terms used in Metrology has been published by ISO on behalf of BIPM, IEC, ISO and OIML. This paper deals with the origins of the Vocabulary and with some of the problems which arose in the course of the work on its preparation: it also comments on some of the terms and definitions.
