Mapping Dynamic Material Behaviour

Perhaps the main problem facing the modern manufacturing engineer or materials scientist is that of adequately describing the mechanical and physical properties of the material he needs to process. In the past, a great deal of research work, both theoretical and experimental, has been directed towards determining material properties, generally in the form of true stress-true strain curves at various temperatures and strain-rates, and then endeavouring to find suitable empirical relationships to assist in cataloguing those experimental results to facilitate their use.
