BUDGET EMPHASIS, BUDGETARY PARTICIPATION AND MANAGERIAL PERFORMANCE: A NOTE.

Abstract Ongoing research into the impact of budget emphasis on the relationship between participation and managerial performance has failed to provide consistent results. The purpose of this study was to conduct a replication of this two-way interaction model, drawing on data from a range of organizations in order to promote result generalizability and to test whether the model fits the data. It is proposed that a potential reason for why the results of this study conflict with those of prior research is that their findings were based on non-random sampling.
