CCS No.7 network interworking architecture in an ATM switching system

This paper proposes a CCS (Common Channel Signaling) No.7 interworking architecture in an ATM switching system supporting both network and service interworking. We examine the interworking standards based on ITU-T and ATM Forum specifications and we describe the distributed interworking architecture in detail, focusing on the function allocation of each protocol layer and interfaces between function units to show how the CCS No.7 signaling protocol mapping is accomplished within the proposed ATM switching system. It is expected that the proposed interworking architecture can be utilized for various applications in ATM switching system.
