TxID insertion system for DTV auxiliary data transmission

In this paper, a new TxID (Transmitter Identification) data insertion system for DTV auxiliary data transmission is proposed. Because TxID was not included in the early ATSC transmission standard, most of the conventional DTV transmitters and translators cannot transmit TxID sequence which should be generated during VSB (Vestigial Side Band) symbol generation process. The proposed system generates TxID sequence and then combines it with the RF signal of the target ATSC transmission system with frequency and timing synchronized, which enables the conventional transmission system to send TxID sequence combined with the RF signal. The proposed system is implemented and its performance is evaluated through laboratory tests.
