AN ENERGY FUNCTION METHOD BASED STABILITY CONTROL STRATEGY FOR THYRISTOR CONTROLLED SERIES COMPENSATION

Using transient energy function (TEF) as the assessment of system stability and applying the derivative of TEF to determine the control strategy of Thyristor Controlled Series Compensation (TCSC) in transient stability process, the transient stability characteristics can be effectively improved and the subsequent oscillation can be quickly damped. The general formula of TEF's derivative for multi machine system is deduced, and taking single machine infinitive bus system as example, the effect of the designed stability control strategy for TCSC is illustrated. The presented control strategy is tested and verified by three phase short circuit fault and the results show that this control strategy is effective and reliable.
