The present invention relates to a method and system for forward error correction before a streaming media, the method comprising: transmitting the media stream using the end of the same transmission information forward error correction (FEC) before sending the related information includes FEC FEC encoding program identifier; receiving end receives and configuring the FEC-related information; receiving end receives the code stream according to FEC FEC cached information and parse the FEC data, upon detection of the media stream packet loss, the FEC data using FEC decoding repair.
