Interactive videocassette for self-access: a preliminary report on the implementation of Autotutor II

Abstract This paper comprises three sections and a brief conclusion. The first section provides a context for what follows by distinguishing between two quite different approaches to interactive video for language learning and summarizing the basic principles that have guided the work reported in the paper: the second section describes two versions of the Autotutor interactive videocassette system developed by the Centre for Language and Communication Studies, Trinity College. Dublin; the third section reports on the implementation of the second version of the Autotutor as a tool for self-access language learning; and the conclusion briefly anticipates future work.
