Three-dimensional numerical simulation is carried out for studying the spray generated by a high-pressure swirl injector.The internal flow,the liquid sheet break-up and the evolution of the spray are simulated consequently.The ef-fects of injection pressure and ambient pressure on the spray characteristics are studied and obtained by the qualitative comparison of the simulated results.With the increasing of the injection pressure,the spray penetration increases,the sauter mean diameter decreases,while the spray cone angle is almost unchanged.With the increasing of the ambient pres-sure,the hollow-cone spray collapses into solid-cone spray,accordingly the spray cone angle and penetration decrease,while the sauter mean diameter increases.
