False color data imaging a new pattern recognition technique for analyzing chromatographic profile data

Abstract Fuzzy pattern recognition techniques were used to analyze the gas chromatograms of hexane soaks obtained from red carpenter ants. The soaks were found to convey information about the caste and social experience of the ants. In this study a new mapping and display technique, which depends upon high-resolution computer graphics for the presentation of results, was used to develop these relationships.
