What defines 'enough' information? How policy workers make judgements and decisions during information seeking: preliminary results from an exploratory study

Introduccion. Se informa sobre los resultados de la investigacion en curso sobre formacion de criterios y toma de decisiones durante la busqueda de informacion en el lugar de trabajo, en particular, la valoracion de informacion suficiente. Se formulan las caracteristicas de este juicio y el papel del contexto en su determinacion contra las teorias de juicio humano y toma de decisiones. Metodo. Se realizaron treinta y tres entrevistas semi-estructuradas con politicos de sector publico en Australia. Se llevaron a cabo dos entrevistas, la primera individual y la segunda, una entrevista conjunta con dos participantes. Se grabaron y se transcribieron las entrevistas y se realizo un analisis de datos inductivo. Resultados. Los resultados analizados en este articulo se centran en los factores contextuales que enmarcan la formacion de criterio y la toma de decisiones de los politicos mientras buscan informacion, factores que incluyen problemas mal estructurados, objetivos cambiantes, stress de tiempo y bucles de accion-realimentacion. Tambien se revelo la importancia de desarrollar un marco contra el que pueda hacerse el juicio de suficiente informacion, y la naturaleza fluida y reiterativa de estos juicios. Conclusion. Los factores contextuales comunicados muestran similitudes con los identificados por investigadores de toma de decisiones naturalista, haciendo pensar que este nuevo campo de la teoria de la decision tiene mucho que ofrecer a los investigadores de busqueda de informacion en contexto.
