Abstract In this paper, the methodology and application of a Knowledge Base System (KBS), being implemented by INTEMOR (INTElligent Management system for On-line Real-time condition monitoring and incident prevention system) is reported. It not only provides condition monitoring for normal operation, but also guides the users to take proper action promptly at the early stage and to explain the reasons for the incident. Both expertise advice (private knowledge) and relevant references in the various manual/regulations such as ISO9000 (public knowledge) are provided. As an evolvable interactive system, KBS encourages users to update the incident related knowledge to achieve in-time knowledge flow. KBS validation is achieved an incident simulator.
