Application of Social Network Analysis Concepts in Military C~4ISR Architectures

Aiming at the complexity of the C4ISR architectures, the paper uses the Social Network Analysis concepts to analyze the military C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) architectures. The purpose of the paper is to present a quantitative analysis method in the C4ISR efficiency in the military architectures. In particular, the paper describes what the FINC methodology, which calculates a number of simple metrics for comparing and quantifying organizational network aspects of C4ISR architectures. This facilitates a more complete evaluation of the costs and benefits of various organizational structures. After outlining the methodology, it is applied in a case study.
