Caring for Your Baby and Young Child: Birth to Age 5

This is the first in a series of three books discussing child care to be produced by the American Academy of Pediatrics. It resulted from the collaboration of more than 75 pediatricians, including many well-known experts. The next two volumes will address adolescence (due for publication in fall 1991) and children aged 5 to 12 years (due for publication in spring 1992). These books are targeted at parents and address normal growth and development; behavior; and social, medical, and surgical issues. Part 1 is divided into chapters about each month of the first year of life, the second year of life, ages 2 to 3 years, and ages 3 to 5 years. Each of these chapters contains extensive discussion of normal development (with milestones highlighted), a section addressing basic care (including sleep, diet, and appropriate toys), and a discussion of behavior.
