Parametric modelling of EMG signals

Proposes a parametric description of electromyographic signals, based on a simplified line source model for generation of single muscle fiber action potentials. Signals are assumed to be a superposition of such components described with two parameters, called depth and delay. The authors further describe a decomposition technique, in fact a parameter searching procedure, which enables a compact presentation of needle as well as surface electromyograms. The presented model can be used for generation of synthetic signals on which the authors' decomposition was tested first. Results on real needle and surface EMGs have shown that the model is appropriate for both types of signals and the decomposition technique has proven itself as an efficient tool in evaluation of such signals in the sense of a set model.
