Inibiçao da absorçao de magnésio pelo potássio em plântulas de milho em soluçao nutritiva

Decrease in plant yield has been attributed to the depression on magnesium uptake by potassium. The objective of this research, conducted in 1994, was to study the kinetics of magnesium uptake by corn plants in the presence of potassium in nutrient solution. When external magnesium concentration was low, potassium concentration higher than Cmin (5.02 mmol c m -3 K depressed magnesium uptake by corn plants by decreasing the Imax from 3.06 x 10 -5 to 0.39 x 10 -5 μmol c Mg m -1 root s -1 . When magnesium concentration in external solution was higher than 720 mmol c m -3 , potassium did not depress magnesium uptake and Imax reached 1.70 x 10 -4 μmol c Mg m -1 root s -1 .
