Overview on variable step size techniques for on-line blind source separation

The behavior of the classic algorithm for on-line(adaptive) Blind Source Separation(BSS) is detailed for a fixed step size.To improve the algorithm in speed and exactness, essential in tracking a time-varying mixing environment,a variable step size must be employed. In this paper,a particular emphasis is placed on the fundamentals and performance for the selection of variable step size.Firstly,a straightforward introduction is proposed for classic on-line BSS of a fixed step size. Then, the paper classifies and specifies the variable step size techniques for on-line BSS.Finally, these techniques are reviewed and give a conclusion about the problem and tendency on the development.
