Exploration of practical approaches to personalized library and networked information service

The main purpose of this paper is to introduce a collaborative research currently running in the department of Library and Information Studies, Shih Hsin University and Academia Sinica, Taiwan. Such research effort is trying to investigate several practical personalized information service approaches to perceiving and gathering users' preferences automatically from different resources including circulation transaction data, personal bookmarks, and web links. Although the research has not been fully completed, some preliminary results have been obtained and shown the potentials for personalized library and networked information service.
