Performance analysis of cognitive cooperative communications for WBAN

This paper presents the effects of infusing the emerging Cognitive Radio Technology in the realm of Wireless Body Area Network to ensure optimum spectrum utilization. To evaluate the performance of the system, decode and forward cognitive relaying over Rician fading channels, with consideration of an interference temperature limit and outage probability has been studied. Effects of factors such as the distance between primary and secondary nodes, interference temperature constraints and the number of secondary nodes used in the network over the network capacity and performance of the system has been investigated.
