Irnigaine and N-Methylirnigaine, Two New Piperidinol Alkaloids from the Tubers of Arisarum vulgare

Abstract From the tubers of Arisarum vulgare, we have isolated two new toxic piperidinol alkaloids. By 2D COSY NMR spectroscopic methods, their structures were elucidated as follows Irnigaine 3: (-)-(2S,3S,6R)-3-hydroxy-2-methyl-6-(9′-phenylnonyl)piperidine and N-methylirnigaine 4: (-)-(2S,3S,6R)-1,2-dimethyl-3-hydroxy-6-(9′-phenylnonyl) piperidine.
