The operational and regulatory environment of contact lenses

Abstract This paper discusses the operational and regulatory factors surrounding contact lens usage. These operating environments primarily effect three organizations: manufacturers, clinicians, and consumers. The interaction of these factors ultimately impact the availability, use, and prescription of contact lenses. An understanding of these factors can help the clinician better evaluate new lens modalities.
