Application of a portable clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter in the water industry

Abstract This paper illustrates the experimental results obtained in a volume flow rate measurement application performed in the water industry. A clamp-on (transit time) portable ultrasonic flowmeter is compared to an in-line (or wetted) electromagnetic meter (used as a master meter). Both meters are mounted in series along a long stretch of pipe in a water distribution network. This in situ comparison gives satisfactory results, since the measurements provided by the two flowmeters are substantially in accordance.
