Numerical methods in engineering education: An example student project in convection heat transfer

Good discipline‐specific projects wherein computational schemes may be applied are generally difficult to find and time‐consuming to develop. This article describes one such case study in the area of convective heat transfer involving what is known as a laminar, thermal entry‐length flow. The algorithm follows directly from first principles and is straightforward to implement, while demonstrating many of the principles of successful computational techniques.
