We will deal with three-dimensional computer simulation studies of the flow of
blood in the epicardial arteries, especially around stenoses (narrowing). In such sections of the epicardial arteries the flow conditions are highly disturbed; the knowledge of the disturbed flow is relevant to the assessment of the possible formation and development of thrombi which preferably appear under irregular flow conditions. We use the commercial CFD package FIDAP which is based on the finite element method. The generation of the mesh is a challenging task. We will present a semi- automatic method which allows us to generate a high-quality mesh that comes close to an optimal mesh. [ DOI : 10.1685 / CSC06129] About DOI
