Remote control system for robot that cleans and inspects insulators supporting power transmission line

A remote control system for a robot cleaning and inspecting an insulator of a power transmission line is provided to control and monitor the robot remotely by applying a distributed control concept using a micro controller. A robot cleaning and inspecting an insulator of a power transmission line while moving up and down along the active insulator comprises the followings: an upper and a lower wing frame covering the periphery of the active insulator, connected with each other through a connecting bracket; a cleaning unit located between the upper and the lower wing frame, including a base frame to clean in a dry mode with a rotating brush and a circular motion guide; a moving and inspecting unit moving with a clamp and a ball screw and inspecting the insulator electrically; and a connecting unit connecting the cleaning unit and the moving and inspecting unit together. A remote control system comprises the followings: a host control station(60) controlling and monitoring the robot remotely; a local control station(40) constituted with multiple control modules and installed in the robot to control and monitor the robot directly; and a wireless LAN module(44) communicating between the host control station and the local control station.
