Synthetic studies on the validamycins. XII: Synthesis of optically active valienamine and validatol

(+)-Valienamine and (+)-validatol have been totally synthesized as the peracetyl derivatives starting from a common synthetic intermediate, (1S)-(1,3/2)-4-methylene-5-cyclohexene-1,2,3-triol.
