Fusion-related technology transfer at the Argonne National Laboratory

The passage of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 set the stage for the implementation of technology transfer at the national laboratories. The major technology transfer mechanism promoted was the publication of papers in the open literature. The basic idea was that taxpayer-funded research should be made available to all taxpayers. It should be noted that the primary mission of the laboratories was, and still is, to meet the Department of Energy`s (DOE) research goals and objectives. Depending upon the nature of the research, technology transfer may or may not be applicable.
