We describe a computer controlled beam diagnostic system, which is capable to collect data for plotting three-dimensional current density map in beam profile mode and emittance maps in x, x’ or y, y’ emittance mode. Further beam parameters can be deduced by taking the advantages of the software. The versatility of the system is demonstrated on measurements of beams produced by a DC mode hollow cathode ion source and by a burst mode duoplasmatron.
