Abstract The paper analyses the concepts of intelligent measurement and instrumentation in relation to artificial intelligence. It describes examples of the application of intelligent measurement in clinical medicine: in particular, inferential measurement, the learning of patterns and measurement interpretation and its use in decision support in the total medical information system.
