A Robust Replay Detection Algorithm for Soccer Video

Replay is one of the most important clues for semantic analysis of soccer video. A replay is always sandwiched by a pair of logos, which indicate the start and end of a replay. In this letter, we present a robust replay detection algorithm based on logo image recognition. First, we detect the logo template from soccer video sequences. Then we find logos by comparing the similarity between images and the template. Finally the replay is detected by pairing logos. We test our proposed algorithm on four soccer matches, and the experimental results show that our algorithm is effective and robust. Moreover, our algorithm can be easily applied to other sports videos.
