Low profile phased array of dielectric resonator antennas

A novel high gain, C-Band, low profile phased array is being developed with electronic beam steering capability in the azimuth plane. The radiating elements consist of dielectric resonator antennas (DRAs) of rectangular cross-section, fed from a microstrip line by proximity coupling. Challenging issues in this research project, include achieving wide bandwidth performance, low sidelobe levels, and wide angle scan coverage. Preliminary results on sub-array performance will be presented.
