Rapid control prototyping of a speed control strategy for a switched reluctance machine

This paper presents a rapid control prototyping technique for a speed controlled Switched Reluctance Machine. The control is developed in LabVIEW FPGA and runs on an R-series board by National Instruments equipped with a Kintex-7 FPGA chip. The control is designed and simulated in real-time using look-up tables, with data provided by finite element method simulations and mathematical equations describing the electric machine model with fidelity. The results of the control simulation are validated on a physical test bench proving the benefits of the proposed technique in the field of real-time simulations.
