An algebraic approach to data-adaptive array processing

Abstract : In an earlier paper, an algebraic characterization was made of the problem of resolving closely spaced plane waves incident on a linear array. The characterization suggests several data-adaptive processing methods and encompasses the Wiener, Maximum Likelihood, and Pisarenko methods. In this paper, the algebraic approach is amplified and the results extended to consider correlated noise. A recursive algorithm is given for a particularly effective processing method. (Author)
