TIME STUDY AT PACKING CABLE WORK STATION, CASE STUDY AT PT. X

Observations on the production floor at the packing department at PT X indicates that the packing activity has not been implementing the economic and ergonomic aspects of working motions. Most workers use only one hand to work, while the other hand is more often idle. This situation causes the completion of the work time is longer than it should. This condition should be corrected by studying the time and working motions of each work element. From the data processing obtained 7 working elements namely: take a piece of cardboard, fold the bottom of the cardboard box, insert cable reels, make oval shaped of cable reels, insert oval cable reels into another cable reels, closing the boxes and moving the boxes.Standard time in seconds respectively is 6.46, 26.00, 119.40, 17.63, 18.92, 24.79, 10:23. While the standard time to complete packing the cable is 223.43 seconds
