Kinetics of the reduction of alkyl halides by a chromium(II) macrocycle

The reduction of alkyl halides is a subject that has been of mechanistic interest for over two decades. Much effort has been expanded in distinguishing among electron-transfer, atom-transfer, and oxidative-addition mechanisms. With the new (H[sub 2]O)[sub 2]CrL[sup 2+] species available, the authors have returned to a reaction type that has been considered before.
