This article discusses the calculation of the hermeticity of a reverse rotating valve (RRV) from precision parameters in approximation to the model of a porous solid, with account of the surfaces which confine the porous medium. Introduces the complex parameter of precision of an RRV seal that characterizes the technological processes for the treatment of the sealing surfaces by the precision parameters, the operating modes of RRV, and the mechanical properties of the materials of the sealing surfaces. The described procedure for the assessment of the hermeticity of RRV allows a more correct selection of the technological processes for the treatment of the sealing surfaces of RRV on the basis of a preselected flow rate through the seal. The presented model can be applied for the assessment of the hermeticity of various types of seals, e.g., sphere-sphere or cone-cone types. The model can also be applied in the development of algorithms for the optimization of RRV, e.g., for the selection of the optimum combination of technological processes for a given flow rate through the seal and with respect to limitations of the precision parameters and operation modes of RRV, whereby the region of variation of the precision parameters is dictatedmore » by the technological processes available in production.« less
